An app designed for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) platform that supports a multitude of games, Dolphin VR is almost a plug-and-play console and only requires some tweaking for certain games. In fact, the popular VR fork had been ruling the scene with GameCube and Wii for quite some time. After Oculus Rift came into being, Dolphin VR worked well both with HTC Vive and Rift. Fine tuning for specific games is needed using the right controller for the VR settings to run well. There are several tutorials available online that help in understanding the various conditions that are fit for the gaming environment.
Get your favorite games to life by putting them through the Dolphin emulator. It gives you the scope to soak into all the action in true 360-degree mode. For most VR games, images or videos hardly do any justice. But, certain specific games in VR not only deliver that incredible feel of the thrill, but also out beat other gaming HUDs as the frame moves by following your action instead of staying locked in a single mode. Here are our best efforts to describe some of the popular and sensational games that the Dolphin emulator takes to another level.
Metroid Prime
With almost no hint of motion sickness, adjust and control your movements using the Dolphin fork to play the Metroid Prime. Nausea and dizziness had been a major concern for VR gamers even a decade back; however, with the advent of realistic consoles such as the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and the Dolphin, more and more games that act real-time on the player’s motion are being released. Metroid Prime is one such a game played on the Dolphin VR that simply transports the gamer into a world of mesmerizing alien landscapes, orbiting enemies to unlock the perfect gaming experience.
The Metroid Prime auto-lock function actually works well in VR. It is probably the largest intricately designed campaign games in VR so far.
F-Zero GX
Even though Metroid Prime showed great promise in Dolphin, F-Zero GX is another fine racing game that could sell you to VR! It is insanely fast, nicely designed, and outbound challenging right from the start. Pop-in into the first-person view and enjoy a seamless ride while you stream past the alleys; it doesn’t make you nauseous at all. The sense of speed in this VR gaming undoubtedly has a magic to it.
Pikmin 2
This VR game naturally fits into the player mode. The action involves standing tall over Olimar to direct small plant people to maintain an entire field while they’d multitask. With a few tweaks, Pickmin 2 can be made suitable for the Gamecube controllers. While Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX work in the VR, Pickmin 2 still needs some adjusting, but otherwise is a good game already. It might be tricky to balance the motions of this Dolphin VR game first, but once you get a hang of the environment, the feeling fades out quickly.
